kesimpulannya, kalau dok rumah sorg2 takde pe nak layan dan rasa nak ditakut2kan, sila la tonton cerita ni... kalau pasni trauma nak masuk panggung wayang, kira ok la, jimat duit... tiket wayang mahal woooo, pastu dah beli senang2 je steward kat entrance tu koyak dengan muka takde perasaan kasih sesama insan...

finding a good friend in a bad place...

it's damn easy to find a movie that makes me laugh, but ones that me smile only comes by once in a while...

watching The Shawshank Redemption made me smile all the way... i know the movie is quite old, being released in 1994, but i never get the guts to watch it before... movies that won too many awards somehow scares me...

i never thought that a movie about prison life, can be full of life and as aspiring as this one... it's like watching three different movies in the same time (not because of the total running time of more than 2 hours, but due to its interesting plots and good storyline)... i guess stephen king is not only good in writing ghost stories and mysteries after all... casting Morgan Freeman as Red was already a good idea, but having him to do the narration as well was brilliant... it wouldn't be the same if it was done by Andy himself...

i was having a hard time to choose which line is my favourite in this movie, since every single thing that came out of their mouth means something... however, these are a few points to ponder...

Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane. -Red

being suspicious is not a crime... review on Taken (spoiler alert!)

I have always been a fan of Liam Neeson, he is just so damn cool ... he played Ra's al Ghul (Batman Begins), Godfrey of Ibilin (Kingdom of Heaven), Priest Vallon (Gangs of New York), Qui-Gon Jinn (The Phantom Menace) and many more roles that can be considered as supportive characters, but nevertheless still leaves a big impact on the whole story line...

but in Taken, Liam Neeson is no longer the noble mentor as in the previous films mentioned... In this movie, he is a retired special agent who's daughter was kidnapped by a sex slave trade gang... at the beginning, i wasn't expecting that much action from this movie, but man, he did went rambo and cold-bloodedly kills everyone who gets in his way... for a 56-year-old man, he really kicks ass ... it was enjoyable, breathtaking and a heart warming movie... as far as i know, it's no longer in the cinemas... so if you wanna watch it, go get the dvd, torrent it or something...

enough about the movie, i guess that there are no limits when it comes to save the one's you love (especially when you are an ex-agent of course)... but in the real world, there is nothing much to do when one's child is kidnapped... you went to the nearby balai and made a police report, and then wait... and wait... and wait... remember nurin jazlin jazimin? or sharlinie, just to name a few... there are many more out there who are still missing... but what are the authorities doing about it? waiting for lelaki kucing to come up front and confess, i guess...

i can't wait to have the children of my own, but to raise them in the current Malaysia is something that i am afraid of... may the Almighty protect us and all our beloved ones from all the sick paedophiles, kidnappers or whatever culprits who are into this kind of shit... amin...

wtf's of the day: "If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you..."

anu yang patah jangan simpan dalam botol...

first of all, i am not gay. definitely 100% sure i am as straight as a ruler...

so what really have taken over most of our local producers? everyone is like competing with each other on who will make a better gay drama @ movie... when there are plenty more topic that they could(should) choose, they opt for something as wicked as this... if you wanna make something based on the same idea while injecting humour in it, like the ever so famous Sutun, then it is still acceptable... but making movies with title as dark as Anu Dalam Botol, that is just plain ridiculous... what are you trying to preach? something like if you love somebody so much (which is from the same gender), you should cut off your genitals and put it in a bottle? for what? shelf's display?

we are way different from hollywood... they can make films about anything, and still make it look good... it is not that i worship their movies or something, but that is how things really are... i am homophobic (though i do crack a few jokes here and there about homosexuality), but still, i found Milk is a good movie to watch... just when i thought Sean Penn can only act really damn good playing thugs and retarded guy (Mystic River & I Am Sam), there he was in Milk, being a gay dude, homo to the bone, like he was absolutely gay even in the real world... and that movie did taught me something about perseverance, persistence and determination... gays really never give up, don't they... btw, the movie was based on a true story... and that is really something...

wtf's of the day: "...And no offense meant, if it were true that children mimic their teachers, then we would have had hell of a lot more nuns running around!" - Harvey Milk

from rags to raja...

ok fine... i know everybody probably have watched it a few times already, but i've only watched it yesterday... i am pretty sceptical about reviews on box-office movies... and movies that won too many awards kind of bored me to death sometimes... but slumdog millionaire is really something...

there are two types of movies that i like... first, the ones with an unpredictable ending... m night shyamalan is the best director for these sort of things... second, movies that you already know its ending, but how it gets there is the most interesting part... and that is something that you can't just wildly guess...

slumdog millionaire reminds me much of the kite runner... not through its story line, but for the friendship and brotherhood that revolves around it... those little things that you won't get to see in kl drift, cinta fotokopi, anak mami or whatever sh1t that our local moviemakers had served us with... except for this one little movie called pensil which didn't made it big in the cinemas, others are just plain crap... it is acceptable if we are not capable to produce sci-fi movies due to limited funds or expertise... but masterpieces like kite runner, slumdog or pensil won't cost much i guess... doesn't require hi-tech cgi's or overpaid "actors", but all it needs is a good story to tell...

so how ah, david "teh o" & prof mydin? got anymore good-for-nothing movies from you this year? "jangan main belakang" perhaps? ^_*

for you, a thousand times over... a tribute to The Kite Runner

"For you, a thousand times over..."

those are the words that hassan told amir in The Kite Runner, a best-seller by Khaled Hosseini... just finished watching the movie which based on the novel with the same title, again... watched it for a few times, but still it never failed to stimulate my tear glands... however, no matter how good the movie is, there's no way that the movie can be compared to the novel itself...

me myself is not the type who read books much... and i was introduced to this masterpiece by my sister... as soon as i started to finish the first chapter, i couldn't stop... and finally, i finished the whole book in one go... and when they made a movie on it, i was so excited...

clearly, what khaled hosseini wrote was far more complex than what they have portrayed on the screen... the presence of all the emotions in it, can only be achieved by reading the book, and not just by watching its movie... i guess no film can ever fully capture the magic of an excellent book, due to time constraints and poor directors... nevertheless, it was worth it to watch it again, and again...

for those who haven't read it, here's its link, either in .doc or .pdf... trust me, you won't regret it...

when others did what we should do: a review on "Pensil"

i'm a movie buff, but a really choosy one... i choose to watch movies that are worth it to be watch, and deserves to help me in spending 90minutes (or more) of my quality time... drama is my favorite genre as compared to action or comedy, since drama has lots more to offer rather that showing people kicking each other's butts or spoofing other movies... the best movies are the ones that can make me cry, or perhaps tickle my tear gland... i am sam, a beautiful mind, and 7 years in tibet are a few movies that never failed to do so, no matter how many times i've watched them... i'm also into spike lee's and m. night shyamalan's, their work have never failed to impress... as for actors, i go for "actor-actors" such as edward norton, johnny depp, sean penn, brad pitt, denzel washington and samuel l. jackson...

i do also watch local movies... but not the ones that are produced by either usop aslam or prof makdia abd razak mydin-wholesale-store... the 1 and only local movie that made me cry before was KAMI, with allahyarham Sudirman as its main actor... (not the new 1 that features 3 hot chick with 2 dude + indie songs^_-)... it was the best local movie ever in term of its essence... nowadays, malaysia's producers are more likely to make movies that resolves around 2 (or more) lovers, mat rempit, illegal racing, mat drift or whatever morale problem that we have here in our country... these so-called movies were said made to educate the public, but ended up being imitated by kids who watch them in order to look cool or get hot chick... wtf...

but then came along m.subash...

^m. who? m. nasir and m. rajoli kenal lah, tp m. subash? hero tamil ke?

that was my first reaction when i read his name on the poster... i didn't have the guts to watch the movie "Pensil" when they played it in the cinema before... afraid that i might waste rm10 to fall asleep... but i was totally wrong... thx to fathimz who downloaded the movie, i've finally get to know who m. subash is... he is both a great actor and good director in the same time... i mean, he acted like he was really born like that... i was touched that an indian guy can make a movie that emphasise on Allah's greatness, while malay-muslim directors and produces opt for romance and bullshit... while other directors wasted months to make a movie, this great guy only need 6 days to do so... the whole 1 hour and 49 minutes of the movie kept me thinking on how fortunate i am to be born as a naked healthy infant... able to walk, talk and live normally to this day...

thanks m. subash... looking forward for your next masterpiece... and the next time you make one, i'll make sure i watch it in the cinema, not by downloading it or get pirated dvd, wokey macha? ;p
